The study program of academic master studies in the field of English language and literature aims to, in addition to basic academic studies, provide students with further training in special areas of English philology, related to the narrow scientific field of English language and literature. The goal is to further train students to professionally and independently perform activities in the fields of applied linguistics and independently perform scientific research activities in the field of English language and literature, as well as to continue their studies in doctoral studies.
After attending the study program of basic academic studies of English, i.e. successfully mastering all obligations and acquiring 60 ECTS, the student acquires the title of Master of English Language and Literature – 300 ECTS with an indication of major (linguistic or literary direction), depending on which elective courses. This title implies the acquisition of the necessary knowledge and skills to perform work in the field of education, culture, publishing, translation, public relations, international communication and all areas that require a professional profile of experts in English language, literature and culture, as well as scientific research, and continuing studies in the third cycle (doctoral studies).
After the realization of the study program of master’s academic studies of English: the student acquired scientific and professional knowledge and mastered the methods of scientific research in the field of English linguistics and literature, developed skills of critical thinking, analytical, synthetic reasoning and active attitude towards himself and others, cooperation with others, has the ability of self-evaluation and self-reflection, as well as awareness of the need for lifelong intellectual and professional development, and has developed those individual abilities that can contribute to his better professional work and further education in academic and research environment.
